South Pacific Mining Company 1881
Product Description
Nice Death Valley mining stock issued at New York in 1881. The South Pacific Mining Company controlled the old Salt Spring mine in the south end of Death Valley. The company was pretty much a sham with a fantastic tout job and ludicrous tales espoused. "The South Pacific was well on it's way to becoming the most active, if not the most popular, stock of 1882" according to Lingenfelter in Death Valley and the Amorgosa. The company was such a joke that the stock was pulled from the exchanges in 1883. The certificate is in excellent condition. Click on image for larger view.
